Bring in 2020 celebrating New Year's Eve in a Georgia State Park. They offer cozy cabins, heated yurts, lodge rooms and modern campsites.
ATLANTA, GA — Bring in 2020 a little differently this New Year's Eve. Georgia's State Parks, along with parks across the country, are inviting people to participate in "First Day Hike" Jan. 1. It's a national initiative from America’s State Parks to get people outdoors. Georgia’s State Parks and Historic Sites have several scheduled guided tours to connect people with nature.
Georgia has 48 state parks. Parks such as Sweetwater Creek, Red Top Mountain and Panola Mountain are closest to Atlanta for those who want to make the drive. Ranger-led hikes on New Year’s Day are listed online and even include daring lake plunges at Reed Bingham and Richard B. Russell state parks.
Georgia’s State Parks offer cozy cabins, heated yurts, lodge rooms and modern campsites. (Fireworks and sparklers are not allowed in state parks.) For reservations, call 1 (800) 864-7275 or book online at GeorgiaStateParks.org.
