Spring in the south is usually the perfect time for people to get back outside, working out, or spending time getting into shape by heading to the park, a nearby body of water, or the beach. Temperatures typically rise early in spring, and the heat isn’t usually too bad until later in spring so it’s a regionally wide-spread tradition to get outside as soon as possible.

This year has been a bit different, needless to say, with COVID-19 shutting down the typical gyms and fitness centers or boutiques that have become more and more popular. With that said, lots of people have moved their workout routines outside, finding creative ways to move their bodies in order to boost their overall wellness. The approaching summer is usually another incentive for people to start thinking about “bathing suit season,” where your diet and your workout routine matter. Many people turn to Google to look for the best diet and the best exercises to get ready for bathing suit season, and residents of Atlanta are no different.

As a whole, the most common searches on Google for fitness ideas and exercises include weight training, circuit training, and HIIT routines. In Georgia, the top searched fitness trend is weight training. While residents have been searching for weight training ideas, they’ve also been experimenting with outdoor exercises. 71% of Atlanta residents live within a 10-minute walk to a public park. If you’re one of those people, you can try weight training exercises like these after your warm-up walk.

In combination with health and fitness trends, diets trends have been evolving because people have had more time to work in their kitchens or meal prep. The most popular diet that people are searching to learn more about is intermittent fasting. According to this report, intermittent fasting is the top searched diet trend in 13 states, including Georgia. Other popular diets include a vegan diet, carb cycling, and weight watchers.
