Grady Hospital Says Flooding Repairs Need More Time
Grady Hospital said that repairing damages from a flooding incident won't be completed until October now.

ATLANTA, GA — Flooding repairs at Grady Hospital will need more time than anticipated, reports CBS 46. The news comes after officials initially said it would be fixed within three-to-four months. The new finished timeline is now around October.
Grady officials released a statement on Monday, stating that the project will take longer than expected because the “it became clear that the scope of the remediation and repair project was significantly greater than originally assessed."
On Dec. 7, a pipe burst and water damaged several floors of the hospital and its electrical system. Flooding on the sixth floor and two other floors must be repaired, along with electrical issues, which could take up to three months, Grady officials said in a statement last month.

Repairs to areas of the hospital damaged by the pipe break are ongoing, the hospital said.
Gov. Brian Kemp had declared a state of emergency as a result of damage at Grady following a burst 24-inch water pipe. The declaration allowed Kemp to activate the Georgia Emergency Management Agency so it could bring in a mobile hospital unit room from North Carolina, WSB reported.
