Man Accused Of Kidnapping Grandmother From Jonesboro Charged
The man is also accused of stealing the car the grandmother was sitting in, police said.
ATLANTA, GA — Authorities have arrested a man who is accused of stealing a car and kidnapping an 86-year-old grandmother who was inside of the car, Clayton County Police said late Friday morning.
The car was taken from Jonesboro Thursday, and the woman was found safe hours later at a Howell Mill Road restaurant, police said.
Taron Williams, 22, is charged on suspicion of kidnapping and felony theft by taking-motor vehicle, police said.

Williams was arrested by the DeKalb County Police Department after the department received a call around 9:30 p.m. Thursday about the stolen car being located at a restaurant, Clayton County Police said.
"The Clayton County Police Department would like to express our upmost gratitude for the public’s assistance and for the assistance from our law enforcement partners," read a statement from the police.

Officers responded to the kidnapping around 3:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of North Main Street in Jonesboro, police said.
In video surveillance released by the police, a man is seen talking on a cell phone and walking toward the car. He looks through the passenger side before walking around the car to the driver's side. There appears to be someone in the passenger's seat who rolls up the window before the man gets into the car. The man backs the car out of the parking space.
According to media reports, the woman is doing fine.
