Here Are The Best National Taco Day Deals In Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA — It’s time to toast the mighty taco. Friday is National Taco Day, a day to honor the sublime Mexican creation in all its variations while also cash in on great deals going on in Atlanta.

Whether your taco preference runs towards meat or fish, spicy or mild, hard or soft, with guacamole or without, there’s something for every type of tortilla lover on its official holiday.

Here are some of the best deals and events we could find in Atlanta:

• bartaco: Limited-edition Oaxacan Spiced Chicken Taco will be available starting Oct. 4 until Dec.3

• Red Pepper Taqueria: $2 steak tacos at all three locations in Brookhaven, Buckhead and Decatur
• Tin Lizzy’s: $2 seasoned beef tacos with lettuce, tomato, jack cheese and sour cream in a crispy shell at locations including Buckhead, Grant Park, Midtown, Perimeter, Emory and Downtown Atlanta

The history of tacos is one shelled in mystery, as the precise origin of the finger-friendly food remains unknown. However, Jeffery M. Pilcher, a professor of history at the University of Minnesota, told the Smithsonian Magazine that he thinks it’s likely that Mexican silver miners invented the taco in the 18th century.

“The first mention that I have seen [in the U.S.] is in 1905, in a newspaper. That’s a time when Mexican migrants are starting to come—working the mines and railroads and other such jobs,” said Pilcher.

Along with local deals in Atlanta, many national retailers are also offering special deals for the day.
