Fulton County Inmate Found Unresponsive In Jail Cell Dies
The 36-year-old man was found unresponsive by a detention officer during an early morning security round.
ATLANTA — A 36-year-old inmate at the Fulton County Jail was found unresponsive in his cell and died at a local hospital Wednesday, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities said Michael Anthony Holland was found unresponsive by a detention officer during an early morning security round.
After jail staffers tried performing lifesaving measures, Holland was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. A cause of death is unknown.

Holland was incarcerated after being arrested on May 4, 2023 by the East Point Police Department on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault against law enforcement officers when engaged on official duty and three counts of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers by use of threats or violence, authorities said.
He was being held at the Rice Street jail on a $55,000 bond, authorities said.

The Atlanta Police Department will conduct a death investigation, and the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on Holland, authorities said.
