487 Pounds of Fresh Tomatoes Donated by Hickory Hills Farms to Second Helpings Atlanta

Earlier this week, Myron Smith with Second Helpings Atlanta picked up 487 pounds of Grape tomatoes and Sun Gold tomatoes generously donated by Susan and Garry Shaw of Hickory Hills Farms. After dividing the bounty of glorious fresh tomatoes, he delivered more than100 pounds each to four different partner agencies of Second Helpings Atlanta:

Myron shared a quick story about the impact of Hickory Hills Farms’ donation: “When I went back to My Sister's House this afternoon to deliver another donation, fresh surplus food we rescued from the Morningside Farmers Market, one of the people who runs the dining services program took me in to their walk-in cooler. She was eager to show me that she had prepared a dinner salad with the Grape tomatoes for the 250+ women and children who live at My Sister's House. She was so excited to have this wonderful produce!”

Second Helpings Atlanta appreciates every food donor’s continued support to help reduce food insecurity and hunger in Atlanta by providing nutritious foods to those in need.
