Rerun: Livestream Of President Trump’s Visit To Atlanta

President Trump and VP Mike Pence were in Atlanta Friday for two events. Watch a re-broadcast of his speech here.

ATLANTA, GA — President Trump has wrapped us his two events while in Atlanta Friday. He and Vice President Mike Pence attended a fundraiser and launched the "Black Voices for Trump" campaign. The event took place at 3 p.m. at the Georgia World Congress Center. Watch the president's speech on C-Span.

People were able to attend by registering on President Trump's website.

Two motorcades moved through the city, affecting Interstate 285, State Route 400, Interstate 75, the Downtown Connector, Buckhead and Downtown. The Atlanta Police Department said they expect the traffic impact to last from approximately 11:30 a.m. to around 4:45 p.m.

Before the rally, Trump attended a fundraiser luncheon in Buckhead to support U.S. Sen. David Perdue, AJC.com reports. It cost supporters $100,000 to get in the door, another $2,800 per person for a seat at the luncheon, and a photo with Trump required a $35,000 donation.

The launch of the "Black Voices for Trump" campaign is the president's way to gain more of the African American vote. In the past, Trump criticized Atlanta Congressman John Lewis on Twitter, the AJC reports, after the state representative told NBC's "Meet the Press" that he wouldn't attend Trump's inauguration.

"Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results," Trump tweeted in 2017. "All talk, talk, talk - no action or results. Sad!"

Protesters were expected to attend Trump's visit to the Georgia World Congress Center, 11Alive reported. Groups such as Refuse Fascism ATL and the Georgia Alliance for Social Justice were near Centennial Olympic Park and the CNN Center before the president arrived.

This morning, Georgia Democrats gathered at the state capitol for a news conference to send a message before the "Black Voices for Trump" rally, reported the AJC.

State Sen. Nikema Williams of Atlanta, the chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Georgia, said Trump was bringing his “backwards agenda to Georgia to pretend like his actions haven’t been a disaster for the black community and marginalized communities across this entire country.”
