Man Accused Of Beating Atlanta Woman On Date Arrested: Police

Benjamin Fancher is being charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, and aggravated assault of an Atlanta woman he met on a dating app.

ATLANTA — A man who a metro Atlanta woman said recently beat her severely while on a date after the two met on a dating app has been arrested in New York, Atlanta Police confirmed on Wednesday.

Benjamin Fancher was arrested by the Kent Police Department in New York on Tuesday, an Atlanta Police spokesperson said. The arrest came after Brittany Correri posted Fancher’s photo as being wanted by Atlanta Police and sharing her experiences of her date with Fancher on her Instagram account.

According to police, Fancher was arrested on a warrant out of Atlanta and charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and aggravated assault. The spokesperson said Fancher has waived extradition and is expected to be back in Atlanta by Nov. 25.

“They got him,” Correri wrote on her Instagram account Tuesday night. “I am FLOODED with emotions.”

Correri previously wrote she met Fancher on the Hinge dating app and decided to go on a date with him. She said the date was going “normal” and the two were having fun when everything changed. According to the social media post, Fancher started to beat Correri in the face and head and when she attempted get out of the car, he would pull her back in by her hair or the hood of her sweatshirt, the post read.

“After hours of being driven around, beaten and held against my will he drew his gun on me and told me that he was going to kill me,” she wrote in the post.

In her social media post after learning Fancher had been arrested, Correri credited another woman who came forward after seeing Correri’s social media post about her date with Fancher, WSB-TV reported.

On her initial social media post, Correri posted a photo of herself with a bloodied lip and bruised face and said she felt embarrassed by posting the information but wrote that she needs other women to understand the true dangers of online dating.

In an interview with WSB-TV, Correri described Fancher as a "super nice guy" before everything changed. In the interview, she said that Fancher called her the n-word and that he was angry because she was dancing with two Black women at the bar and that she had "picked the wrong white boy."

In her post on Tuesday, which as of Wednesday had more than 4,100 likes, Correri said she has been encouraged by the number of people who reached out to her of learning of her ordeal.

“Your kind words have lifted me up when I felt like I am falling apart,” she wrote. “My family and I cannot thank you all enough. You guys are amazing.”
