Man Accused Of Shooting Girlfriend And Uber Driver Arrested

Tavoris Ferrell, who was out on bond on a 2015 murder charge when the July 28 shooting occurred, was arrested in Florida.

ATLANTA, GA -- An Atlanta man has been apprehended in connection with the July 2017 shooting of a woman and an Uber driver. Tavoris Ferrell, 31, was arrested Tuesday by FBI agents in Tampa and deputies with the Pinellas County, Florida, Sheriff's Department in Clearwater, the FBI Atlanta Field Office said.

Ferrell, who was named to the Atlanta Police Department's Top 10 Fugitive list, is charged with aggravated assault from an incident reported July 28. According to police, Ferrell shot his girlfriend at "close range during an argument and then proceeded to shoot an Uber driver at a nearby intersection."

Ferrell incurred several addition local charges during the efforts there to apprehend him in Florida, the FBI added. At the time of the July 28 shooting, Ferrell was out on bond on a 2015 murder charge, and his trial was set to get underway in Atlanta.

After learning Ferrell fled to the Sunshine State, the FBI obtained a federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant for his arrest. Ferrell is being held at the Pinellas County Detention Center where he awaits extradition back to Atlanta.
