Man Convicted Of Stomping, Beating Another Man To Death

Joshua Price bragged to his fellow inmates that he broke into the man's home and beat him to death.

ATLANTA, GA -- An Atlanta man has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years for stomping and beating another man to death in his own home. Joshua Price, 30, received his sentence Tuesday in Fulton County Superior Court. He had been previously convicted of several counts of murder, aggravated assault and burglary.

On May 27, 2016, Price called his aunt to retrieve his social security check. Marcie Price, the defendant’s aunt, raised Joshua from birth and kept track of his social security funds. On the day of his murder, Roger Horton, 56, who was Ms. Price's fiancé, told Joshua that she was out running errands and she would call him when she returned home. The defendant was not allowed in her home because he had previously acted aggressively toward Horton.

Instead of waiting for Ms. Price to return from running her errands, Price went to the home on Indale Place in Atlanta. Horton wouldn't allow the defendant to enter the home. This enraged Price and he yelled at Horton to let him inside and to give him his money. Price's behavior was so erratic a neighbor brought her children inside and called 911.

Price eventually forced his way into the house and attacked Horton. Neighbors could hear furniture moving, items crashing, and other noises that sounded like a physical attack. Inside, Price beat Horton by stomping the victim with his feet and striking him with an iron fireplace tool. Horton sustained a series of wounds to his head and his neck and ultimately died from his injuries.

Price was apprehended at a nearby gas station a short time later, covered in Horton's blood which was located on the socks, shoes, and the pants he was wearing. The medical examiner determined Horton died from blunt force injuries to his head. In multiple jail calls, the defendant bragged about attacking Horton. He stated he was justified in killing Horton because the victim would not let him in the home. He said, “I snatched that (expletive) door open and beat that (expletive) to (expletive) sleep. I stomped that (expletive) to sleep.”
