Fleeing Suspect Injured by Glass After Police Fire at Vehicle: GBI

The incident took place early Wednesday afternoon at US Beauty Mart on Old National Highway.

ATLANTA, GA -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an incident involving officers using force against a fleeing individual in south Fulton County.

Officers with the Fulton County Police Department were dispatched to a call around 11 a.m. Wednesday of a suspicious vehicle parked at US Beauty Mart at 5407 Old National Highway.

The officers who responded to the call saw a male inside the vehicle, and requested he exit the car, the GBI states. At that point, the individual allegedly tried to flee the area, "striking multiple vehicles," including a police car, the agency states.

At that time, officers discharged their weapons, but state officials say the man behind the wheel continued to drive until he was later caught.

The individual was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where it was discovered that he was not shot, but did receive lacerations from broken glass, the GBI added. He is currently being treated for his injuries.
