Man Shot, Killed By MARTA Police Officer During Drug Stop: GBI
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the shooting that happened Friday at the North Avenue Station in Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — A man was shot and killed by a Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority police officer Friday after state authorities said he pulled out a gun during a drug stop at North Avenue Station.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the shooting, which happened shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday. According to authorities, two undercover MARTA police officers were patrolling the station when they spotted a man with suspected illegal drugs.
According to state officials, officers tried to take him into custody but the man fought the officers and tried to escape. One officer deployed a taser but still wasn't able to take the man into custody, authorities said.

The suspect again tried to escape and pulled out a gun, prompting one of the officers to shoot him, authorities said.
Officers provided first aid to the man until he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The man's name was not released pending notification of family.
Once the Georgia Bureau of Investigation concludes its investigation into the shooting, the case will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
