Manhunt On For Georgia Jail Escapee
Christopher Nicholas Carroll was being held in Lamar County, about 60 miles south of Atlanta.

BARNESVILLE, GA — A Georgia jail inmate has escaped and is on the loose, according to authorities.
A manhunt was underway Wednesday morning for Christopher Nicholas Carroll. Carroll was being held at the Lamar County Jail in Barnesville — about 60 miles south of Atlanta.
According to the Lamar County Sheriff's Office, Carroll broke out of jail Tuesday and got away in a county van. The van later was found in South Carolina, where Carroll is from.

Carroll is described as a white male, standing 5'9" and weighing about 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing an orange jail jump suit.
Carroll was being held on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and three counts of obstruction of an officer. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
