Mark Meadows Pleads Not Guilty In Fulton RICO Case: Reports

The former White House chief of staff also waived a formal arraignment in Georgia's election interference case, media reports say.

ATLANTA, GA — Ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows joined five other co-defendants in pleading not guilty Tuesday in Georgia's widespread election interference case that accuses 19 top-ranking officials and others of trying to overturn the state's 2020 presidential election results.

Both CNN and Reuters reported Meadows also waived a formal arraignment.

Former U.S. President Donald J. Trump is the highest-ranking official charged in the Fulton County case, facing violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act charges and other charges. Trump pleaded not guilty Thursday and waived his formal arraignment.

Trump, a Republican, has been accused of trying to interfere with the 2020 presidential election, during which he lost the race to current Democratic President Joe Biden.

He and his allies were indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on Aug. 14. Some of the defendants are accused of impersonating a police officer, acting as fake electors and trying to access a Coffee County voting machine to change votes.

Trump was charged on suspicion of violation of the RICO Act, three counts of solicitation of violation of oath by public officer, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, two counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit forgery, two counts of conspiracy to commit false statements and writings, conspiracy to commit filing false documents, filing false documents and false statements and writings. He was released on a $200,000 bond.

Meadows was charged on suspicion of violation of the RICO Act and solicitation of violation of oath by public officer. His bond amount was $100,000.

CNN reported 18 of the 19 defendants have entered not guilty pleas. Misty Hampton, former Coffee County elections supervisor, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
