Metro Atlanta Is Getting A New Area Code
Officials announced Wednesday that a new area code will be added to the metro Atlanta list.
ATLANTA, GA — Soon Georgians will see a new area code. The metro Atlanta area already has four and the 943 will be added to the list, officials announced Wednesday.
The new 943 area code will cover the Atlanta Metropolitan area defined as the cities of Alpharetta, Duluth, Dunwoody, East Point, Forest Park, Gainesville, Griffin, Lawrenceville, Mableton, Marietta, Peachtree City, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Smyrna and Tucker, reported WSB.
The new 943 area code won’t be administered until carriers have run out of the existing area codes. People with an existing area code won't need to change it.
