Mother's Day Brunch Spots: Georgia Eateries Among America's Best

GEORGIA — Are you looking for a special spot to celebrate Mother's Day after two years of scaled-back effort? Georgia is home to a few of the top brunch restaurants in the country, according to OpenTable's list of the 100 Best Brunch Spots in America.

OpenTable said an analysis of its data shows Mother's Day reservations to its clients are up 39 percent compared with pre–pandemic 2019, and up 13 percent compared with 2021.

Here are the Georgia brunch spots that made the list:

Anis Cafe and Bistro, Atlanta: It's located in a converted house that has been renovated to feel like a charming restaurant in Provence. Since opening its doors, Anis has been part of the Garden Hills neighborhood in Buckhead. Arnaud Michel shares his love for the food and wine of his childhood in Montpelier, France, which influence the menu.

Canoe, Atlanta: Dine on the banks of the Chattahoochee River located in the Atlanta community of Vinings. Popular dishes include its Popcorn Ice Cream Sundae and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. Executive chef Matthew Basford grew up in Australia, where he was exposed to cooking techniques that drew influence from Pan-Asian cuisine. Read the varied menu here.

Henry's Louisiana Grill, Ackworth: Billed as a down-home restaurant and bar with Southern-inspired Louisiana fusion dishes from signature Louisiana Ooh La La or Po'Boys. Popular dishes are owner/chef Henry Chandler's hush puppies and shrimp creole. Check out the menu.

Milton's Cuisine and Cocktails, Alpharetta: Based in a 150-year-old farmhouse, Executive Chef Derek Dollar serves “New Southern” cuisine that uses fresh, local ingredients to create regionally inspired comfort food with bold flavors. Featured menu items are: Kentuckyaki Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Prime Beef Bolognese and Roasted Poblano & Scallion Blue Corn Grit Cake. Here's the menu.

Poor Calvin's, Atlanta: Calvin Phan created an East-meets-South brand of fusion so the mac 'n cheese has Thai spices. Southern staples like sea bass and fried chicken have an Asian-inspired twist and spice. Browse the menu.

In a survey of 1,255 adults, 45 percent said they plan to make up for time lost with their mothers and mother figures during the pandemic by "going big" this year. And 48 percent of moms surveyed said their ideal Mother's Day involves going out to brunch or dinner.

Among those, nearly half (47 percent) are opting for brunch. The most popular cuisines represented on the list are American (30 percent), French (19 percent), contemporary American (11 percent) and seafood (10 percent).
