Murder Charges, Arrest In Double Shooting Of Atlanta Siblings

Police say a brother and sister were killed over the weekend when an altercation in southwest Atlanta became deadly.

ATLANTA — An arrest was made over the weekend in connection with a deadly double shooting Friday night, authorities said.

Atlanta Police charged 35-year-old Lamorris Willie J. Godfrey with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.

Police were called to 1185 Sells Avenue SW with reports of a shooting, according to police reports. Officers arrived to find a man and a woman shot to death inside of a car on the scene.

Homicide investigators determined that Godfrey was involved in an altercation that escalated to gunfire, police said. The victims were brother and sister, although it is unclear what Godfrey’s relationship was to the pair, police said.

Godfrey is being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.
