Murder Suspect Arrested After 1 Dead, 1 Injured In Atlanta Shooting
Atlanta Police say a 64-year-old man is facing murder and aggravated assault charges in a shooting that killed a man and injured another.
ATLANTA, GA — A man is facing murder charges after a shooting killed one person and injured another Saturday in the 1000 block of Lawton Avenue Southwest, Atlanta Police said.
Officers responded to the shooting around midnight. When they arrived, police said they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical workers pronounced one man dead at the scene, and the second man was alert and taken to a hospital, police said. The men were not identified.

The shooting suspect, identified as 64-year-old Robert Varner, has been detained, police said. He is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.
Fulton County Jail records on Monday showed Varner remained incarcerated.
