ATLANTA, GA — Lucianna Fox was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Leroy Midyette, a locally famous homeless street performer, according to a release from the Fulton County District Attorney's office.

On Nov. 5, 2016, Midyette, known as "Tin Man" because he wore silver paint for street performances, was pushing a cart containing all of his belongings on the access road to the Hamilton E. Holmes MARTA station. Fox, now 44, was driving and yelled at Midyette, telling him he needed to move his cart out of the street, the release says.

Midyette motioned her to drive around, but Fox became "enraged by Midyette's suggestion" and drove her car into his cart, the release said.

She then backed up, hitting his cart a second time, and drove off. Midyette ran towards Fox's car while she was waiting at a stop sign and confronted her.

That's when Fox got out of her car and pulled out a handgun, the release says. She shot Midyette in his chest from two feet away.

Fox put the gun on the hood of her car and waited for Atlanta police to show up. She was arrested, and Midyette died at the scene from the gunshot wound.

The release said Midyette was a product of the foster care system and hadn't graduated from high school. He was homeless, the release said, but earned enough money through his street performances to survive.

Fox was convicted of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. She'll spend life in prison plus five years.
