NAACP Urges GA To 'Push Back" Against Gov. Kemp: Coronavirus

The NAACP has put out a call to Georgians, urging them to defy the governor and stay at home despite the reopening of businesses.

ATLANTA, GA — Just because businesses have reopened as of Friday, doesn’t mean people have to go to them. That’s the unified message from 11 metro Atlanta chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The group, according to WSB, has called on people to “defy the governor" and continue to stay home during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a tweet directed at Gov. Brian Kemp the group wrote: "Hands off our community @BrianKempGA. This is not a game. #StayHomeSaveLives #NAACP."

"The reckless and unilateral decision of Governor Brian Kemp places at risk communities in direct danger of COVID-19 or coronavirus," they wrote. "The NCAAP is calling on citizens to push back on Brian Kemp."

NAACP officials said in a news release that returning to pre-COVID-19 practices too soon could widen the pandemic.
