HAMPTON, GA — When the checkered flag flew Sunday, it was NASCAR Cup driver Joey Logano who took out the competition to win the Ambetter Health 400 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The No. 22 Ford driver and Connecticut native won at the Atlanta track for the first time and secured his first victory of the season, according to NASCAR. Logano was greeted by his father soon after his triumph.

"That was cool. Obviously, I didn't see him coming, and I think that was neat to see that," Logano said at a news conference. "... This was kind of an emotional win when you think about what the Atlanta Motor Speedway is all about to our family and the memories are made here. This is one that (I) will definitely remember forever. So, it's cool to have my dad here to celebrate with."

Logano, who would better his skills by racing Legends cars at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, told NASCAR winning at the Atlanta race was special. He and his father would race on the quarter mile, he said.

"This is the full circle for us," he told NASCAR. "So many memories gritting over there with the Legends car, racing, having a big time."

His win came after he got a push from Christopher Bell, No. 20 Toyota Camry driver, and sped past then-leader Brad Keselowski, No. 6 Ford driver.

Logano won 0.193 seconds ahead of Keselowski and 0.194 seconds ahead of third-place Bell, according to NASCAR.

"It just worked out," Logano said at a news conference. "My car was able to take a push really well, and when Corey (LaJoie) clobbered me at the start-finish line, it gave me such a big run, I thought, 'It's going to be close to clearing the 20. I think I can.' And, I committed to the move, and it was either he was going to have to release the wheel or lift or something. ..."

Logano's victory was Ford's first win of the season, according to NASCAR.
