NBA Player Eliminates $1M Plus Of Atlanta Medical Debt
Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young helped clear medical debt for 570 families in the city.
ATLANTA, GA — More than 500 families will receive assistance with their past due medical debts thanks to Atlanta Hawks player Trae Young, reports WSB-TV. The athlete partnered with RIP Medical Debt to help.
His efforts will clear debt for 570 families. Young donated $10,000 through the Trae Young Foundation to target relief in the Greater Atlanta Area. More than a million dollars, $1,059,186.39 to be exact, of medical debt will be erased.
RIP Medical is a nonprofit formed by two former debt collectors. They take donated funds to buy medical debt portfolios. Accounts of those most in need are for individuals: two times or below the federal poverty level, insolvent and/or with debts that are five percent or more of gross annual income.
