More than 22,000 season tickets have been sold for Atlanta United's first 2017 season.

ATLANTA, GA — More than 22,000 season tickets have been sold for Atlanta United FC's inaugural season, setting a record for an Major League Soccer expansion team.

Atlanta United president Darren Eales told MLSsoccer.com that the number is also second most season tickets sold in MLS this year. Only the Seattle Sounders have sold more.

The team will play in the new Mercedes Benz Stadium, and is owned by Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank. The team only has seven players on its roster so far and hasn't hired a head coach.
