Here are the top three stories today in Atlanta:

  1. The reward amount for information leading to an arrest in the murder of Atlanta businessman Desmond Key has been increased to $40,000. The current reward amount is $5,000 more than what was previously being offered by Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta. The reward is being provided by the Atlanta Police Foundation, Crime Stoppers, and Key's family. (Atlanta Patch)
  2. Environmental activists and some Atlanta city council members are calling for a new tree ordinance. They are reportedly concerned that the current tree ordinance does not incentivize developers to preserve trees. A new tree ordinance proposal is reportedly expected to be introduced during next week's city council meeting. (CBS 46 News)
  3. The Atlanta Public Schools District has extended its deadline for its Virtual Academy sign-up. Families will now have until Apr. 22 to submit an application for the online program. This provides an extra week for families to decide if the program is a good fit for their children. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
