New Coronavirus Test Created By Atlanta Company BioIQ

ATLANTA, GA — A new saliva-based coronavirus test has been developed by Atlanta-based company “BioIQ.” The company tells WXIA that it has partnered with labs and can share results within 24 to 48 hours.

“This is the saliva specimen collection and essentially this just gets inserted into your lower cheek, moved 10 times, back and forth 10 times to collect an adequate amount of sample,” said CEO Justin Bellante.

The tests will first be available to healthcare workers, then essential workers and vulnerable people. They will roll them out nationwide this week.

“If there’s a hotspot, get the testing done elsewhere because the hospitals need all the testing capacity in that hotspot, so it’s a real advantage having a network of labs,” Bellante said.

The company says they followed FDA guidelines throughout the development of the test.
