Piedmont Park Shooting Kills Teen, Injures 2nd Teen On ATL's 404 Day

A shooting on 404 Day in Atlanta killed a 16-year-old and injured a 15-year-old at Piedmont Park, police say.

ATLANTA, GA — A shooting at a gathering in Piedmont Park killed a 16-year-old girl and injured a 15-year-old girl around 9 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Atlanta Police said a reward of up to $15,000 is now being offered in exchange for information in the case. Police released surveillance video, which appears to show people scattering in the park.

The un-permitted gathering took place on the far west end of the park, following a festival that ended around 7:45 p.m., police said.

Police have not connected the two events, which both occurred on Atlanta's 404 Day, an annual celebration of the cherished city that included a parade and other festivities.

Homicide Unit Commander Lt. Christapher Butler said the 15-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Though police have not identified the 16-year-old girl who died, the Fulton County Medical Examiner told WXIA-TV the girl was identified as Tianah Robinson.

Police have not released details of a suspect.

Videos have begun circulating on social media, with a caption on one stating there were multiple shootings in the park Saturday.

Organizers of 404 Day sent a statement to WXIA-TV. It read:

"Our hearts are with the families and everyone affected by the tragic events that occurred outside the event last evening. We extend our deepest prayers and condolences during this incredibly difficult time. The safety and well-being of our guests has always been our highest priority. We want to reassure our community that every member of our team worked closely with our security and local authorities to keep our patrons safe. We are deeply saddened by what occurred and remain committed to supporting our community in any way we can.

APD's Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
