Police Seek Tips In Near-Deadly Atlanta Hit-And-Run

A man is in critical condition after witnesses say an SUV swerved onto the sidewalk and hit him, then drove away.

ATLANTA, GA — An Atlanta man is in critical condition and police are asking for help finding the driver of an SUV who hit him, then drove away.

On Monday, police officers responded to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Wellington Street where, according to witnesses, a man was hit by a silver Honda Pilot as was walking on the sidewalk. Witnesses said the driver of the SUV appeared to lose control and drive onto the sidewalk.

The victim was taken to Atlanta Medical Center in critical condition.

Police are asking for help finding the driver. The Honda Pilot is believed to be a 2003-2005 and likely has heavy front-end damage on the passenger side, police say. They released a photo of the vehicle driving away from the scene.

Crime Stoppers tipsters are eligible for a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
