Powerball, Mega Mills Jackpots Near $1B: See Latest Lottery Winners In GA

Here's what you need to know ahead of drawings for the Powerball and Mega Millions, two lottery games with massive near $1 billion jackpots.

The jackpots for the popular Mega Millions and Powerball games collectively near $1 billion as some lucky players in Georgia take home significant prizes.

With no one hitting the Powerball's massive $396 million prize on Sunday, the game's jackpot has grown to a whomping $416 million for Monday's drawing. The cash option is $186.6 million, the Georgia Lottery Corporation said Monday.

Tuesday's Mega Millions jackpot has soared to $576 million with a cash option of $253.9 million.

Both drawings will be held at 11 p.m. on their respective days. To play the lottery game in Georgia, hopefuls must buy their tickets by 10 p.m. on draw nights.

Mega Millions tickets cost $5 and have a built-in Megaplier. The Powerball has a price tag of $2 with a $1 Power Play.

The GLC provides lists of retailers offering tickets. Players only need to submit their zip codes to find nearby locations.

Tickets can also be purchased via the Georgia Lottery app.

Here are recent winners in Georgia as reported by the GLC:

  • A Stone Mountain player won $50,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing by matching four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball. The ticket was purchased at Country Food, 4091 Redan Road.
  • Another player won $100,000 in Saturday's Powerball drawing by matching four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball with a 2x multiplier, doubling the prize from $50,000 to $100,000. The ticket was purchased at Walmart Supercenter, 150 Altama Connector in Brunswick.
  • A player in Albany hit the jackpot for $290,307 in Thursday's Fantasy 5 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased through the Georgia Lottery mobile app and matched all five winning numbers.
  • A player in Kennesaw won $10,000 playing Disco Pig (Lucky Coins) through the Georgia Lottery mobile app Wednesday.
  • A Jasper player won $250,000 playing Jumbo Bucks Triple Play through the Georgia Lottery mobile app Friday.
  • A player in Woodstock won $7,500 in Saturday's Millionaire for Life drawing by matching four of the five white-ball numbers and the Millionaire Ball. The ticket was purchased at Kroger, 2295 Towne Lake Pkwy.
  • A player in Bonaire won $7,500 in Sunday's Millionaire for Life drawing by matching four of the five white-ball numbers and the Millionaire Ball. The ticket was purchased at Discount Mart, 2991 Moody Road.
  • A player won a top prize of $10,000 playing Georgia FIVE in Sunday evening's drawing. The winning ticket matched all five numbers in exact order and position. The ticket was purchased at USA Discount Beverage, 121 E. Gordon St. in Douglas.

All funding from the Georgia Lottery's digital games, scratch-offs and other games benefit education in the Peach State, lottery officials said.

Online winning tickets have an expiration date of 180 days from the drawing date while instant ticket winners have 90 days from the expired date to claim prizes. Instructions on how to receive prizes are here.

Georgia takes 5.75 percent in state taxes and 24 percent in federal taxes for winnings more than $5,000.

"The (Georgia Lottery Corporation) reports to the IRS and Georgia Department of Revenue the names of winners of prizes above $600. ... Additionally, the GLC is required to check for and deduct any outstanding child support payments for prizes of $2,500 and above and student loans and state taxes for prizes of $5,000 and above, net of wager or ticket cost," lottery officials said on the Georgia Lottery website.
