Public's Assistance Sought In Fatal Atlanta Shooting, Stabbing

Police are asking for tips in a shooting that killed a man at an Atlanta gas station and a stabbing that killed a woman in Piedmont Park.

ATLANTA, GA — Police are asking for the public's assistance in two unsolved cases that are nearly a year apart, a shooting that killed a man at a 14th Street gas station and a stabbing that killed a woman in Piedmont Park.

Atlanta Police said at a Friday news conference Katie Janness, 40, died on July 28, 2021, after being stabbed several times while walking in Piedmont. A suspect in the case is unknown.

Prince Oluzor, 38, was shot and killed on Aug. 31, 2022, at a local gas station, where he was alerted to his car being stolen. When he went to check on the car, police said a suspect in a silver car shot Oluzor in his body. He died at the scene.

Police said the suspect's car could be a 2013 Honda Accord with a dent in its left side.

"Nothing is too small," APD Lt. Germain Dearlove, homicide commander, said at the news conference, asking the public for tips in the case.

APD Homicide Inv. Jeffrey Churchill said the FBI Atlanta office is helping with the probe in Janness' case and said he remains in contact with her mother.
