Publix, Kroger, Safeway, Whole Foods Holiday Hours New Year's

ATLANTA, GA — Whether you're hosting a small gathering at your home for New Year's, or a bash with food and drink for a crowd, it seems like something always gets left off the shopping list. Everyone has a last-minute purchase that requires a quick trip to the store during the holidays.

Here is a list of Atlanta area grocery stores that will be open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, along with their hours. However, it is always a good idea to call ahead and make sure the store has the item you're looking for in stock.

Nearly every food store in the region — Publix, Kroger, Giant, Wegmans, and Whole Foods among others — is open Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, although hours may be adjusted for the holiday. To help you prepare for the holiday, we have open and closed hours for Atlanta metro grocery chains, taken from their websites and emails to Patch. Some stores may vary.

New Year's Eve, Day Store Hours

• Publix — New Year's Eve and Day — Stores will be open both days, but closing times vary, so check online or contact your store directly.
• Kroger: Stores will be open normal hours on on both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Check with your local store to confirm.
• Giant Foods: New Year's Eve and Day — Stores will be open until 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 and will re-open at 6 a.m. on Jan. 1.
• Food Lion: New Year's Eve and Day — Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 all stores will be open during normal business hours.
• Trader Joes: Stores will close at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve.
• Safeway: New Year's Eve and Day — Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 all stores will be open during normal business hours.
• Whole Foods: Stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day.
• ShopRite Supermarkets: Stores will be open normal hours on both Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Many ShopRite stores are independently owned and operated, so holiday hours will vary. ShopRite customers should check their local store's Facebook page or call the store to check holiday hours.
• Fresh Market: New Year's Eve and Day — Dec. 31 stores are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Jan. 1 stores open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• ALDI: All ALDI stores will be open limited hours on New Year's Eve; all stores are closed on New Year's Day. The holiday hours for your local store can be found by using the store locator.
• Costco: New Year's Eve and Day — Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 31; closed on New Year's Day.
• Sam's Club: Stores will be closed on New Year's Day.
• Walmart: Stores will be open on regular hours on New Year's Eve and Day.
• Target: On New Year's Eve, all stores open at regular time — either 7 a.m. or 8 a.m. — and will close at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. On New Year's Day, all stores open at regular time and will close at 10 p.m., 11 p.m. or midnight.
