Saturday Protest Set To Counter ATL Councilman’s APD Celebration
"Let's stand our ground while police are celebrating in Atlanta while unarmed black people continue to be shot," said the organizer.
ATLANTA, GA — A protest is scheduled for Saturday afternoon to send a message to Atlanta City Councilman Antonio Brown. He’s organizing an event to celebrate Atlanta police officers, but some are saying it's bad timing and poor taste in light of recent events between Black people and police.
Protesters are asked to wear all black, including shoes. Masks are required. They’ll meet at 12 p.m. at Center Hill Park, 2305 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy, NW.
The councilman is using taxpayers' money to host the celebration, said protest organizer and District 3 resident Je’ Wesley Day in a news release. “This shows Councilman Brown's blatant level of insensitivity to the #BreonnaTaylor case, her family and the unrest in our nation and city right now,” he said.

“How does a City Councilman march with protesters one day against police brutality and host a party in celebration for police the very next?”

He said the protest will be “organized, strategic and all are welcome.
