Here are the top three stories in Atlanta today:

  1. Scissors & Scotch Barbershop will debut its first Atlanta franchise in the heart of midtown. The franchise location will open on the ground floor of the Osprey apartment building and will have a "man cave vibe to it," with a lounge area, leather seating, a high-quality bar, and dark woods. The shop will be modeled after an old-fashioned barbershop with a combination of barbers and stylists and, of course, scotch, liquor, cocktails, wine, and beer on tap. (What Now Atlanta)
  2. During his inaugural State of the City address on Monday, Mayor Andre Dickens announced the formation of a "nightlife division," joining other cities around the world with vibrant nightlifes. Housed within the Mayor's Office at Atlanta City Hall, this new division is tasked with cracking down on nuisance businesses after hours. The department will provide quarterly training to Atlanta restaurants, hotels, clubs, and bars on deescalating altercations, administering first aid, and responding to emergencies. A night mayor will be appointed to act as an after-hours liaison, advocate, policy advisor, and overnight problem solver. (Eater Atlanta)
  3. On Thursday, a small plane crash-landed on a busy thoroughfare in a northwest Atlanta suburb which caused traffic delays. The pilot, who was the lone occupant of the plane, has been reported as being "safe" after the aircraft came down on Cobb Parkway. The pilot was taken to a hospital with a minor leg injury, Kennesaw police Officer David Buchanan said. (Columbus Ledger-Enquirer)
