Atlanta Eatery Fishmonger Makes Esquire's Best New Restaurant List

The restaurant was named to the list that included eateries from Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.

ATLANTA, GA — Fishmonger is one of 40 eateries across the nation named on the 2022 Best New Restaurants in America list, according to Esquire.

The outlet gave the restaurant the moniker, Big-City Seafood Shack.

Fishmonger has two locations, one near North Highland Avenue and one in the Kirkwood/Pullman area.

In October 2020, What Now Atlanta reported the restaurant is co-owned by Nhan Le and Skip Engelbrecht, who also own 8ARM and Octopus Bar. The pair was slated to open Fishmonger in 2021 in the Plaza on Ponce in Atlanta's Poncey-Highland neighborhood, the outlet reported.

According to Esquire, Fishmonger "channels the seaside fish markets of the Gulf Coast."

Esquire reported though Fishmonger Chef Bradford Forsblom does not use a deep fryer, "a hot catfish sandwich comes to the table glistening with chili paste, atop a nori-buttered Martin's roll."

Also on the menu are grouper, snapper and kingfish on ice, Esquire reported.
