Second Video Released From Atlanta University Center Shooting

Four female students were caught in a crossfire between two groups shooting Aug. 20. Police have released two videos seeking information.

ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta Police have released a second video of a suspect they believe was involved in a shooting that injured four female students in the Atlanta University Center complex Aug. 20.

The video shows a man in a black jacket with white striped sleeves walking into the frame. Police ask anyone with information on the male highlighted in the video to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS(8477).

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the students, their families and loved ones, during this extremely difficult time," Atlanta University Center Consortium said in a statement. "They have the full support of the AUCC faculty, staff, students and alumni. Please know that all threats to our schools or students are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We are working with the Atlanta Police Department investigation of last night’s incident. All AUCC institutions will have police presence on-campus and throughout the surrounding areas. Collaborating with campus public safety officers, the AUC Library and APD, the AUCC will continue to forge stronger solutions to ensure the safety of our campus community."

The shooting happened late on Aug. 20 when police said they believe two rival groups began shooting at each other, catching the four students in the crossfire.

The shootings happened around 10:30 pm. Atlanta University Center is a collection of some of the nation's most prestigious historically black colleges and universities in the nation, and includes the campuses of Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and the Morehouse School of Medicine.

The students have been identified as Erin Ennis, 18; Maia Williams-McLaren, 18; Elyse Spencer, 18; and Kia Thomas, 19. Two are Clark Atlanta students and two are attending Spelman College. The shooting happened outside a Clark Atlanta library.

"One of our top priorities at CAU is the safety and security of our students," Clark Atlanta officials said Aug. 21. "Here at Clark Atlanta University, and across the country, students have the right to gather together in celebration without the fear of violence. We will not stand for it in the Atlanta University Center. We are working diligently with Atlanta PD to identify those involved."
