Police Arrest Man Charged With Shooting Mother of 5

Justin Cox, 40, was apprehended Monday night in Atlanta, say Marietta police.

UPDATE — A police fugitive task force apprehended a man Monday night who was wanted for shooting a 34-year-old mother of five to death Sunday in the driveway of her home, according to the Marietta Police Department. Justin Cox, 40, was located at a home on Campbellton Road in Atlanta and taken into custody without incident, the police said.

Cox, a convicted felon, is accused of shooting Felicia Miller, 34, on Sunday afternoon as she sat in a vehicle in the 300 block of Pin Oak Court, say Marietta police. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Miller sitting in a parked car with multiple gunshot wounds.

She was taken to WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center in Marietta, where she later died. The joint task force that tracked down Cox included Atlanta police officers and the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit, as well as the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Marietta police said.

Marietta police responded at about 4 p.m. Sunday to reports of gunshots fired near Pin Oak Court, the police said in a statement. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Miller, who was sitting in a parked car with multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses identified Cox, 40, as the shooter. The victim's relatives told WSB-TV Channel 2 that Cox came off a porch, waked up to the car and fired the deadly shots through the car's window.

The Marietta police secured an arrest warrant for Cox, charging him with homicide murder, possession of a firearm during a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
