Small Outside Fire Ignites At Fulton Government Center

The ​Atlanta Fire Rescue Department told Patch there were no injuries in the fire Thursday.

ATLANTA, GA — No one was injured after a small outside fire Thursday at the Fulton County Government Center, Atlanta Fire told Patch.

Firefighters evacuated the building after being alerted to a large amount of smoke coming from an elevator shaft.

Fulton County officials said around 11 a.m. the entrances of the center were closed after the detection of smoke in the center.

"During the investigation, there were no signs of smoke or fire inside the structure, but firefighters found a small exterior fire that was extinguished using a water can," fire officials told Patch.

County officials said shortly after 12:45 p.m. that staff members could return to the government center to gather their belongings.

It is unknown what caused the fire.
