Strip Club Shooting Leaves Two Security Guards Hurt

ATLANTA, GA — Two private security guards were shot early Tuesday morning after escorting a group of rowdy patrons out of an Atlanta strip club, according to police.

Atlanta Police officers were called at about 2 a.m. to the Blue Flame nightclub at 1097 Harwell Rd. in northwest Atlanta. The Blue Flame advertises itself as employing more than 200 dancers and being the "Home of the $5 Table Dance."

According to police, one of the private security officers was shot in the buttocks and the other in the leg after they ushered out two men and several women for what police called "inappropriate behavior."

The group "became loud and belligerent in the parking lot," according to police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Bender, and at least one of the men made gestures suggesting he had a handgun. They got into several vehicles and began to leave, but one of the vehicles circled back. Then, someone began shooting toward the nightclub, Bender said.

A third security officer returned fire, but it remained unclear Tuesday morning whether anyone in the vehicles was hit, according to police. The two injured security guards were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
