Summer Gas Prices: What Georgia Counties Let You Fill Up On The Cheap?
What's the average price for a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gas in Georgia?

ATLANTA, GA — Call it the circle of life for the summer vacation season: Warm weather means US travelers itching to hit the open road during their off time, and that increase in demand translates into an increase at the gas pump. But Georgia is bucking the national trend of higher gas prices, seeing a drop in the average price to fill up, according to AAA.
As June gets under way, the average price for a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded gas in Maryland is $2.22, compared to the national average of $2.37.
At the local level, the average gas price in Atlanta is $2.25, which is 5-cents lower than the city's average a year ago.

Augusta in Richmond County has an average price of $2.11; Macon in Bibb County is $2.14, Albany in Dougherty County is $2.16, Athens in Clarke County and Valdosta in Lowndes County is $2.17, Columbus in Muscogee County is $2.19 and Savannah in Chatham County is $2.22.
To compare, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in our nation's capital of DC is $2.53, placing in the second spot on the top 10 weekly list of most expensive markets. Pennsylvania is the most expensive with the average gas price at $2.57.

According to AAA, the nation's top three markets with the cheapest gas this week include South Carolina ($2.03), Alabama ($2.09), Oklahoma ($2.09), Mississippi ($2.09) and Tennessee ($2.11).
