The shooting resulted from a domestic dispute, police said. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said everyone involved knew one another.

Officers received a description of the suspect's car and issued a be-on-the-lookout for the vehicle, Schierbaum said.

Troopers took the suspect into custody in Coweta County, he said. The man was not identified, but Schierbaum said he will be charged in connection with the deadly shooting.

His arrest came after officers received witness tips. Schierbaum said the man was in custody within 30 minutes of the shooting.

The incident came a day after a series of other shootings that resulted from domestic disputes, the chief said. This included a road-rage shooting and two drug transactions that led to gunfire, Schierbaum said.

He added APD has "strong leads" in the latter incidents.

"It goes to show that individuals have been possessing guns (who) are angry, individuals (who) are possessing guns during criminal activity," Schierbaum said. "This is what the outcome is, so this department will find you. This department will take you into custody and place you before a court."

APD's Homicide Unit is investigating the Dixie Hills shooting.
