Police Identify Teens Involved In Deadly Crash On I-75 (UPDATED)

The driver was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment while the passenger died at the scene of the collision.

ATLANTA, GA — The Georgia State Patrol has released the identities of the two teenagers involved in a fatal accident late Monday morning along Interstate 75 in Clayton County.

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol were contacted around 11:40 a.m. March 26 by the Morrow Police Department about the fatal collision on the northbound side at Exit 233. They arrived to find a white Mini Cooper in the wooded area along the interstate at the Ga. 54/Morrow interchange, the Georgia State Patrol added.

The driver, identified as Cristina Pavon-Baker, 17, of Jonesboro, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately the passenger, identified as 18-year-old Makayla Penn of McDonough, was pronounced dead at the scene. Penn had to be extricated from the Mini Cooper by the Morrow Fire Department, the state agency said.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting a follow-up investigation to the accident and charges are pending the conclusion of that review, the agency added.
