Atlanta Airport Terminal Evacuation: All Clear Given
The domestic terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was evacuated as a precautionary measure, police said.
ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta Police on Wednesday morning briefly evacuated public areas of the domestic terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after a suspicious package was found.
The evacuation was done out of an abundance of caution, according to an airport statement and the terminal reopened by mid-morning.
Video shared by one person showed travelers and airport staff running from the terminal Tuesday morning.

At 10:04 a.m. authorities said the "incident has been cleared and people are returning to the atrium."
Atlanta Police Department spokesman Donald Hannah said in an email that a suspicious package was located in the airport's South terminal, which is predominantly home to Delta flights.
He said a bomb squad was evaluating the package Wednesday morning, but that it had been cleared and the area where it was found reopened.
Airports and public transportation hubs across the country have increased security after terrorist attacks early Tuesday in Brussels killed 34 people and wounded more than 100.
The world’s busiest airport handled 100 million passengers in 2015, which means roughly 277,008 people passed through the airport every day of the year, Patch previously reported. That is a record for air travel.
Out of an abundance of caution, APD is investigating a suspicious package and has evacuated the public areas of the domestic terminal.
