Sheltering in place has not made for the most exciting spring season. We want to be outside sipping drinks on a restaurant patio with our friends, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like that will be happening this spring. Since we are stuck inside why not spend the time giving your home a little TLC with a spring redesign.

Interior design trends are constantly changing. From farmhouse to modern to eclectic, everyone has their own take on what design trends they love. Joybird recently surveyed Americans on interior design trends to see what people predicted would be most popular for spring 2020.

If you need help deciding which trend you want to take on in your home this season, listen to the people of America and pick one of the most popular trends, according to the survey.

If you are thinking about picking an old trend that is making a comeback in 2020 to redesign your home, you’re in luck! 20% of survey respondents said they are loving the return of the rich color and retro textures from the 70s, but if color isn't your thing 20% also said that sleek, all-white neutrals from the 2000s are where it’s at.

Modern interior design styles are popping up all over Atlanta and the country. That is why it’s not surprising that the modern style got the most votes for most popular interior design style for 2020. Falling not far behind modern was minimalist, which could explain why people don't mind the return of the all-white neutrals.

The survey also broke the results down by generation, which was interesting to look at. Baby boomers prefer modern farmhouse and traditional styles, while millennials enjoy living in spaces that have a midcentury modern and minimalist feel.

So what about styles that need to be kicked to the curb? Styles that you shouldn’t use for your spring redesign? Apparently sliding barn doors and the color burnt orange are out, at least that is what survey respondents say. Also, if you are thinking about an accent wall, 10% of respondents say don’t do it.

So while you are stuck inside for the next few weeks, get your creative juices flowing, order curbside pick up from your local hardware or craft store and get to redesigning your home with a trendy spring 2020 look.
