Tyler Perry Hires Doctor To Do Autopsy On Nephew Found Dead

Atlanta filmmaker Tyler Perry has hired a doctor to perform a second autopsy on his nephew Gavin Porter. He was found dead in a jail cell.

ATLANTA, GA — A doctor hired by Atlanta filmmaker Tyler Perry will perform a second autopsy on his nephew Gavin Porter who was found Tuesday dead in his jail cell. Perry announced the news through Instagram.

"Three days ago, I got the horrible news that he allegedly committed suicide in prison. I say allegedly because unfortunately our criminal justice system and prisons have been notorious for cover ups and/or getting it wrong," he wrote on the Instagram post.

"I want to be clear, we are not a family of conspiracy theorists, and we want to believe there was no foul play, just as the sheriff has stated publicly."

The 26-year-old, was found in his cell at Union Parish Detention Center at Farmerville in Louisiana, reports theAtlanta Journal-Constitution.

Porter, who is the son of Perry’s sister Melva Porter, reportedly hanged himself.

He was put in the cell Saturday night after a fight with other inmates, reports the News-Star. Sheriff Dusty Gates told the outlet that no foul play is suspected.

He was arrested in October 2016 and faced charges in connection to the shooting death of his father, Gary Wayne Porter, reports WAFB. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
