Veteran's Day 2019: List Of Events And Discounts In Atlanta
Veteran's Day is Nov. 11 and there are several events and discounts to take advantage of this weekend in Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA — Veteran's Day is Monday and there are dozens of events and special discounts happening this weekend leading up to the holiday across Atlanta. Patch rounded up a few options that might be of interest.
The Georgia’s Veteran’s Day Parade and Festival is Saturday, Nov. 9 in Downtown Atlanta in the Centennial Park District. The 10:45 a.m. event will kick off with a parade to honor veterans in front of the World of Coca Cola, followed by a festival that ends at 2:30 p.m. The free event is listed on Eventbrite.
The National Center for Civil and Human Rights is offering free admission to all service members and veterans with proper identification Nov. 9-11. Accompanying family members will receive a 20 percent discount on admission.

The Atlanta Zoo is offering free admission for all veterans, active-duty, retired and reserve members of the U.S. Armed Forces on Nov. 11. They must present a valid military I.D. Up to six accompanying guests will receive $4 off general admission tickets. The offer is only valid in-person and not valid with any other offer or promotion.
World of Coca-Cola is also welcoming all active duty, reserve and retired members of the U.S. Armed Forces. They have free entry daily, but now through Nov. 11, the attraction has a special offer. They’re able to purchase up to four general admission tickets at half off for friends and family. Tickets are normally $17 for adults, $15 for seniors and $13 children 3-12.

Children’s Museum of Atlanta will offer special programs on Nov. 9-11. There will be storytime, a mini-musical, a science and arts bar, and more. Hours vary so call ahead at (404)-659-5437.
The Historic Oakland Foundation will offer a special military-themed tour of Oakland Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. The hour-long guided walking tour will focus on World War I veterans. All military members (active duty, retired or honorably discharged) will receive complimentary tickets. Veterans must show current ID card for active duty or retired or a DD 214 (proof of release from the military) to take advantage of this offer.
Join this Veteran’s Day workout and fundraising party on Monday, Nov. 11. Teams For Troops and BACH Fitness Atlanta will host a workout class for $20 per person, with proceeds benefiting Teams For Troops. The workout class begins at 6:30 p.m. and the party is at 7:15 p.m.
HOPE Atlanta is putting on a volunteer day Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Volunteers will help pack HOPE bags - “a symbol of love and support” - and move-in kits to share with the community. They’re also accepting donations of cleaning supplies.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden will offer free admission to all active-duty and retired veterans through the weekend. Accompanying family members will receive $2 off of general admission. Adult tickets are $21.95 and children ages 3-12 are $18.95.
Participating Shane's Rib Shack locations are honoring veterans and military service members from Nov. 11 -13 by giving away a complimentary Shane’s signature Big Dad® Sandwich Combo. During its annual Military Appreciation Week, there will be food giveaways, honorary catered meals, letter writing campaigns and other initiatives.
