Waffle House CEO Says New Rules Will Be Set For GA Reopening
Waffle House will reopen on Monday. Patrons will notice some changes to protect the safety of workers and customers.
ATLANTA, GA — Georgia restaurants will reopen on Monday. Things won’t be quite the same though. With the coronavirus pandemic still going on, businesses will need to follow CDC guidelines and practice social distancing.
Waffle House CEO Walt Ehmer tells WSB that the restaurant chain will implement new rules on Monday. Restaurants will restrict seating and work with a skeleton crew. Employees will also wear masks. Ehmer says they’ve enhanced their sanitizing practices and put in rigorous screening protocols to make sure people weren’t coming in sick.
The CEO says he isn’t going to force employees to come to work, but be there for people who are able to work and who are eager to get back.

"We want to be there for the people who are able to work, and we found that a bunch of our folks are very much wanting to get back to work," Ehmer said.
Waffle House, which originated in Georgia, has 400 locations across the state and thousands of employees. According to Ehmer, part of the decision to reopen came because they wanted to help their workers during this pandemic.
