Here are the top three stories in Atlanta today:

  1. Bystanders assisted an Atlanta woman while her repeated emergency calls went to an automated 911 message. The incident has highlighted a growing trend of 911 callers in the Atlanta area being stuck on hold for more than 40 seconds. According to Atlanta's E-911 Director, the wait times are due to low staffing, technology issues, power outages, and an increase in call volume. (CBS 46 News)
  2. The City of Atlanta has been placed in the 27th spot on the Trust for Public Land's 2022 ParkScore index. Atlanta went from the 40th spot to the 27th after investing in park access and improvements. According to the study, Atlanta spends roughly $206 per citizen on its parks. (Reporter Newspapers)
  3. The Atlanta Police Department shot a suspect who opened fire on children at a bus stop. The suspect was reportedly struck at least once by the officer and is currently in stable condition at a local hospital. None of the children were injured; most actually caught the bus to school.
