Wendell Pierce Arrested at Atlanta Hotel: Police

ATLANTA, GA - Wendell Pierce, best known for his role as Detective Bunk Moreland in the HBO series "The Wire," was arrested Saturday morning at Atlanta Lowes Hotel, police said.

Pierce was a guest at the Midtown hotel.

Police did not release additional details on the arrest and said further details would be released Monday when the incident report would be ready.

"The incident did not rise to anything significant so no special notification was made...it was treated like any other arrest a patrol officer conducts," a police statement said. "Mr. Pierce made no indication he was famous nor did the officer inquire."

According to a TMZ report, the actor became physical after a fight over politics.

Pierce recently portrayed Judge Clarence Thomas in the HBO movie, "Confirmation."
