What's The Worst Thing About Living In Georgia?

Insider compiled a list of the worst thing about living in each state. What's the worst thing about Georgia?

ATLANTA, GA – Georgia has a diverse landscape of beaches, mountains, and cities, coupled with miles of miles of Atlantic Ocean shoreline – which draws tourists from across the country and internationally. The Peach State is rife with history from Savannah to its Civil War battlefields and monuments.

But no state is perfect (no matter how much you love it), and Georgia is no different. Insider came up with a list of the worst things about living in each state, with flaws ranging from minor ones like "too many hipsters," to major ones like "a high range of drug overdoses." Although Georgia deals with the occasional hurricane and Hollywood types filming in the state, none of these flaws were considered the worst thing about living in the state.

The number one worst thing about living in Georgia is that traffic can be a nightmare, according to Insider. According to a study from the American Transportation Research Institute, the country's worst traffic bottleneck for trucks is in Atlanta, Georgia. Formally called Tom Moreland Interchange, the infamous interchange is commonly referred to as "Spaghetti Junction," because the average vehicle moves at less than 20 mph during the peak of afternoon rush hour.

Every driver in the Atlanta metro knows that the commutes are a nightmare, but you may not know that the traffic is among the worst not only in this country, but in the world. If you're a driver in the United States, you're probably intimately familiar with what traffic jams look like, or at least more so than the rest of the developed world. That's because American drivers spend on average about 41 hours — roughly a whole work week — staring at someone else's bumper because they're stuck in traffic, according to a new report by the analytics company INRIX.
