Chase Maddox, 26, was called in for backup on Friday as Henry County Sheriff's Office deputies were having trouble serving an arrest warrant on 39-year-old Tierre Guthrie, who also was shot and killed.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a fight broke out and Guthrie and the officers fired their weapons. Everyone involved was shot. Guthrie died on the scene and Maddox was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where he later died.
An autopsy conducted Saturday showed that Maddox was shot three times, with the fatal shot being to the head, according to the GBI. Guthrie's autopsy showed he was shot four times, with two of those shots being to the chest.
Deputies Sidwell "Sid" Callaway and Mike Corley, who were serving the warrant at 1260 Saint Francis Ct., were treated for their injuries at local hospitals.
Corley, the GBI says, was shot in his protective vest. He was treated and released. Callaway was shot in the lower abdomen but, by Saturday, was listed in stable condition. The warrant they were serving was for not appearing in court over traffic violations.
In the Facebook post, Locust Grove officials thanked the public for what they called an overwhelming response toward Maddox's family.
A now-complete fundraiser on the GoFundMe website raised more than $103,000. The family has set up a bank account for donations with United Community Bank. Donations at any branch can be made to The Maddox Family Fund.
Newborn and infant clothing and other items for the family may be dropped off at the Locust Grove public safety building at 3644 Highway 42 in Locust Grove.
Community members are also rallying to help the family buy a special-needs van. Their eldest son lives with multiple disabilities and uses a wheelchair. Donations for that fund may be made through:
